DRMender integration
Added by Dave Rensberger 2 days ago
Does Critical Link offer a Mender integration for A/B partitioning and booting for the TinySOM-AM62x boards?
It's best to not have every developer re-invent the partitioning and interplay between u-boot and Linux that are required to make this work reliably. There are similar boards from other vendors who have this, and I can probably adapt theirs without an enormous amount of work, but given the critical nature of OTA, it's really best to have something that's actually supported by your board's own vendor.

Hello Dave,
Thank you for your question about our MitySOM-AM62x product.
We don't formally suggest a specific update provider. We have customers who roll their own and customers who use a tool.
We are happy to assist you in implementing whatever meets your requirements.
We do have direct experience using RAUC (https://rauc.io/) which manages A/B updates but it doesn't have the "network services" layer provided by Mender.io.
Both Mender and RAUC support the Yocto Project (which we use to create our SDK filesystems). So, once you have your custom filesystem, adding Mender or RAUC is typically not difficult.
If you have specific features you need, feel free to post them here or contact me directly and I can recommend an approach.
Thanks,

Hi Bob,
I think that answers my question. I think we'd be on the hook for doing this, which is not a huge deal, but ideally there would be something already set up that works and has been tested, like some of the other venders do.
We're really only using Mender to handle the actual flash updates and the dance between the boot loader and the application level updater that's required to make all of this work. It's not super complicated stuff, but since it's super critical (if it fails some edge case, you could potentially have a very costly problem in the field) it's really valuable to have something that's already supported and tested.
