Power Supply Requirements¶
Section 8 of the MitySOM-5CSX Carrier Board Design Guide [pdf] contains details concerning power consumption and heat dissipation. Note that the MitySOM-5CSX Development Board includes a current monitor IC, which monitors the +5V supply feeding just the MitySOM-5CSX. This LTC2945 device can be utilized to determine the instantaneous power draw of the module.

Maximum Power Consumption¶
The maximum power consumption of the module is going to be highly dependent upon the actual usage of the module. We recommend customers utilize the Altera Power Play Estimator (http://www.altera.com/support/devices/power/pow-power.html) to approximate how much power their specific application may require. Below are some of the absolute maximums based upon the power play estimator:
5CSX-H6-42A-RC: 8.5W+ [3]
5CSE-L2-3Y8-RC: 4.2W+ [3]
5CSX-H6-53B-RC: 8.4W+ [3]
[3] These estimates are only for the Cyclone V processor. Additional current consumption should be added for the on-module USB phy, power supplies, I2C eeprom and other devices.
